Insects and Their Communities

The amazing habits and behavior of insects will be explored, including the division of labor found in some species. In particular, the children will observe ant communities both in nature and in the classroom and study the habits of bees. Ant and bee art projects, and insect-themed songs and books will be shared.

We will discover the metamorphosis of a ladybug by observing a real ladybug habitat in the classroom, starting at the beginning of the April. The children will see how larvae eat, drink, and grow. Parts of the ladybug and its lifecycle will be discussed. Bug art projects, songs, and books related to the theme will be shared.
